Arriving at 9.00am, Lyn & I were the first, but soon to be joined by Bill. He
and I went over to the Church to locate the ‘screw’ upon which the wreath is
affixed, for this was to be Bill’s first wreath laying ceremony since becoming
President. Every year a ‘dress rehearsal’ is necessary to ensure the wreath
stays put.
Lyn had already gone into the ‘George’ and found a new enthusiastic landlady
called Claire who made us all very welcome. Coffee and lunch ordered, we made
our way over to the Church for the 10.30 service.
This year sadly our numbers were somewhat depleted, but we were still well
represented with 16 attendees, no need to name them as there is a photo
elsewhere which Claire, the landlady, kindly sent me.
Roy once again took up his position in the Pulpit for his annual sermon, which

this year, being the 100 year since the end of the First World War, was all
the more poignant.
The parishioners of the church had produced a wonderful display, paying
tribute to the brave men of that
tragic war, including models. (I am
hoping there will be pictures for the
DLN)
When we went outside for the wreath
laying ceremony, there, placed under
our Memorial tablet, was a bicycle
beautifully decked in flowers, how very
kind and thoughtful of the Church
