Don and Beryl loved their holidays, travelling
to many parts of the world, including South
America, India and the USA to visit John
Darroch when he lived there. They were also
guests at John’s wedding in Thailand.
Throughout their sixty years of marriage, as
well as bringing up two children, Beryl
supported Don in all his activities in the club,
turning out to marshal at time trials and road
races, attending the Bellevue running races
and numerous other club functions, such as
dinners, Belgian Nights and Remembrance
Days at Newnham. Beryl could also often be
seen serving teas on a Thursday evening at the
clubhouse in Peckham and occasionally acting
as “chalk lady” on the downhill events at
Godstone.
Don’s Thanksgiving Service, held at the Church
of the Good Shepherd, Tadworth on the 3rd September, was attended by
many family and friends, including members of the Grasshoppers (Martins
Bank pensioners’ club), Barclays Bank and the De Laune, which was
represented by the President Bill Wright, Val and Tony Peachey, John
Kavanagh, Mike Peel, Derek Boon and Marion, Mark and Marjorie Ballamy,
Brian Shambrook and myself.
Our sincere condolences are extended to Beryl , Ian and Linda.
