sitting on numerous committees within the club and also representing the
club at meetings of other cycling bodies.

In 1955 he relinquished the position of General Secretary and took on the
post of Treasurer. He was the Track Timekeeper in 1952, the Track
Handicapper in 1956 and in 1962 he became a member of the Cine-Camera
Sub-committee, and then Secretary/Treasurer of the Clubroom Fund
Trustees. And so it went on - if there was
a committee, then Don was there to
provide advice and guidance; for example,
he was instrumental in proposing the club
hold a 4000 metre individual station
pursuit. Fortunately for the club, his
racing career was fairly short (although

three different periods, the last being
2005-2008 when he came to the
decision that, with failing eyesight, driving
at night from Tadworth to Peckham for
committee meetings was becoming a problem, thus he stood down. He was
awarded the Gold Badge of Honour in 1964 and was a Life Member.

As one of the Clubroom Fund Trustees, he was prominent in the purchase of
an old, dilapidated church hall in Peckham and obtained a government grant
towards its restructure, which became the club’s HQ in 1973. Don
represented the club at the opening ceremony which was attended by the
       Mayor of Camberwell.

By the late 1990s the membership was not using the clubroom as much as
had been originally envisaged to the point where it was rapidly becoming a
