Newnham and George Woods’ and Pat
Burns’ lunches at Brighton Golf Club.
Peter also rode in the Mince Pie and
Mulled Wine club runs around Richmond
Park which Kav organises each year just
prior to Christmas.
Peter’s funeral was held at Chichester
Crematorium on Friday, 19th October and
was attended by many friends and
members of his family. The celebrant, in
his reading and remembrances of Peter,
made great emphasis on how much Peter
loved his bike; in fact, Peter had covered
some 80,000 miles on the bike against
just 50,000 miles on the car mileometer!
Most of his bike riding
was done in aid of the
British Heart
Foundation.
A kind, compassionate
gentleman of the old
school who will be very
sadly missed by Carol,
his children, Lawrence, Mark, Lisa and Clare and his nine grandchildren. To
the last he held the De Laune Cycling Club in great esteem and his De Laune
vest and crash helmet were in prominent position on his coffin as it was
brought into the chapel.
I represented the club at the service and a wreath was sent on behalf of the
De Laune.
