worth a look as we haven’t had the Nationals in this part
of the country for a very long time. For anyone who hasn’t
watched cyclocross since the Rough Stuff of the 1960s,
it’s a very different sport now, very fast and very skilful.
Had a lovely day at the prize giving lunch last month.
Thanks once again to Len and Pat Brown for arranging, and to Val for
arranging all the trophies – great to see some old friends again. I was also
really pleased to be at the Newnham service for the centenary of the
Armistice. It was a very moving service with a poignant address by Roy Savery,
and a thoughtful and inventive display of WWI scenes with mud, barbed wire,
gas masks and sandbags, and of course poppies.
This is the last issue before Christmas, so may I wish you a very happy and
peaceful holiday season. Plenty of turkey, cake and good cheer and hopefully
some time off to ride your bike and get the extra pounds off again. And a
prosperous New Year!
