The De Laune had just 2 riders, myself and Peter Gunnell.    Peter
       was placed 53 rd out of 98 finishers whilst I romped home in 12 th .




      The individual splits below give you an idea of the effort required
       for  these  rides.        Obviously  Ian  Cammish  had  all  the  latest
       equipment,  both Peter and  I certainly could not have boasted
       such high ranking machines and very far removed from the from

       those available today.    We had conventional spoked wheels, no
       tri bars though some of us were using clipless pedals.    A picture
       taken of me on the day verified the above and I clearly remember
       my  clipless  pedals  at  the  time  were  manufactured  by  Cinelli,
       nicknames a rat trap, as the only way you could get out of them

       was to take your hands of the bars to release the foot.
















       Clearly the last 25 took it's toll on all of us, probably a rising
       westerly wind.



       My  time  was    gave  me  our  club  record  at  the  time  but  I  did

       manage  to  update  the  following  year  on  the  same  course  to
       4.4.31 this record still stands today.
       On meandering through the rest of the riders it was a trip down
