The leader of the BFLF (Black First Land First) Andile Mngxitama said in a
speech that for “every black killed, five whites would be killed. We will kill their
children their women and kill anything that we find on our way”. We are waiting
to see what happens as this has been classed as hate speech
We now find that our Durban Municipality is being investigated on fraud and
corruption issues related to millions of Rands: Employing ghost workers; a
R45 million tender payment for refuse collection for six months was depleted
in one; a woman employed in the mayor’s office was paid R50000 per month
and now appears not to have the qualifications she claimed. She then sat
at home while she was being investigated. On full pay. And so it goes on…….
Former president Zuma, on trial for 700 cases of fraud and corruption, had
expected the ANC party to foot his costs bill, but the Judge ruled that he
fork out the R20-30 million himself.
But we still have bright news: besides Cameron van den Bergh and Chad le
Clos winning the short course swimming championships, a couple of new
swimmers winning medals have appeared on the scene. We still have world
class sprinters, and of course don’t forget our ‘lady’ 800 hundred metre
champion Caster Semenya .
The sun shines brightly most days now that we are in summer: 40 degrees
on Monday, 35 yesterday and cooler today: down to 34! At the least the
sky and weather is bright and sunny, if little else.
Health wise, not so good this year: Judi had a long dose of pneumonia: June-
July- August and September, the massive doses of antibiotics causing all
sorts of side effects, leaving her weak and depleted, while I am recovering
from an inguinal hernia: light walking and lots of rest. Starting on the turbo
next week, 7/8 weeks after the op. Having to watch the eating, as without
doing the normal amount of training I don’t want to add too much weight.
and the doc says up to six month with no weights! Had a heart scare
a couple of weeks ago, but an angiogram showed only a healthy heart and
good years ahead, without having to do anything but keep training to
maintain the health.
