Hill Climb 2000

29 October 2000 - National Championship Hill Climb

The 57th National Hillclimb was promoted by MENDIP CC on behalf of the WEST DC on West Close Hill located on the Mendips near Wells & Cheddar. It climbs for 1.22 miles from Rodney Stoke and rises 180m from start.

The gales and rain of Saturday had rolled away and it was a sunny start to the morning but with a strong wind. As the morning continued it clouded up and gradually deteriorated such that the last view riders had damp conditions but the distinct rain stayed off until after everyone had finished. The wind was predominantly behind the riders but was cold enough to deter many of the spectators from staying too long.
